Rift Support
A question, a bug, or a capture that didn't land?
Please include your iPhone model, iOS version and Rift version (bottom of Settings). Never send passwords or anything from your Notion settings.
Before you start
- An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Control Center buttons need iOS 18 or later.
- A Notion account. If your workspace limits which apps members can connect, an admin may need to allow Rift.
Connect a workspace
- In Rift, tap the gear → Add workspace → Connect with Notion.
- Sign in to Notion, choose the workspace, and pick the pages Rift may use. Rift can only see the pages you pick.
- Give the workspace a nickname, such as "Work" or "Personal". It starts as the workspace's name.
- Choose where captures go:
- Create a new inbox: Rift creates a database called Rift Inbox under one of the pages you picked, or
- Use an existing table you picked. Rift checks it for the columns it needs and asks before adding any that are missing.
To let Rift use more pages later, connect the workspace again and pick them.
More than one workspace
- Connect up to five workspaces, each with its own inbox.
- One workspace is the default. With two or more connected, tapping Send asks where the capture should go, with the default listed first.
- The share extension always saves to the default workspace and shows "Saving to" with its nickname.
- Rename a workspace, change the default or disconnect one in Settings.
Questions
Which workspace did my capture go to?
Settings → Capture log lists your last 200 captures with the time, the workspace, the capture type, and a link to the Notion page or the reason it failed. The log stays on your iPhone and doesn't store what you captured.
Can I change the Rift Inbox table?
You can add your own columns and views.
Future Rift updates may add columns to this table. Rift will always ask first. Renaming, deleting or changing the type of Rift's columns can stop captures from landing until it's fixed.
What if I say no when Rift asks to add columns?
Rift connects anyway and keeps sending. Captures still land without the fields the table can't hold, and the capture log notes what was left out. Settings shows a warning on that workspace until the columns are there.
Captures fail, or Rift says it isn't connected
Check that:
- Rift is still connected in Notion (Notion → Settings → Connections);
- Rift still has access to the page that holds Rift Inbox (on that page: ••• → Connections);
- Rift Inbox hasn't been deleted or moved to the trash.
Then tap Reconnect on that workspace in Rift's Settings. The capture log shows the reason for each failure.
How large can files be?
The File tile accepts files up to 100 MB, and the share extension takes up to 10 items at a time. Notion sets its own limit per file: 5 MB on the Free plan, more on paid plans.
How does Rift access my Notion?
Only through the pages you pick when you connect. Your captures go straight from your iPhone to Notion. The access Notion grants is kept in the iOS Keychain on your iPhone. Signing in passes through a small relay on rift.wrongway.ca that completes Notion's sign-in and doesn't keep the access it passes along. You can remove Rift at any time in Notion → Settings → Connections.
Widgets and Control Center
Long-press the Home Screen → Edit → Add Widget → Rift. Rift Capture opens one capture of your choice (long-press it → Edit Widget to change which); Rift Grid shows four or all nine. Lock Screen widgets and Control Center buttons (iOS 18 and later) work the same way.
